Allow Yourself to Feel

“Instead of letting emotions take advantage of you, and you make then decisions you later regret, educate yourself and master your emotions as strategic tools.” -Dr. Ed Daube

Have you ever asked yourself how you feel, only to be confused by the answer?

Sometimes it’s hard to pin down exactly the emotion that is defining our experience of the moment. Are you happy, or are you sad? Enthusiastic, or bored? Excited, or exasperated?

Our emotions can be a lot like sibling rivalries: they’re complicated and messy. But it’s important to remember that emotions are just tools that we use to help us identify our needs and desires.

When we experience an emotion, we need to understand how that emotion helps us survive in the world. And In order to use emotions like these as tools for survival, you have to: Be aware of your own emotions, experience the emotion, take a step back and a deep breath, assess the nature of the emotion, and finally, take action.

If you’re still having trouble with your emotions after reading this, don’t worry—we’ve got your back. Watch this episode with Dr. Ed Daube, also known as “The Emotions Doctor,” who is an expert on using emotions as strategic tools to improve lives and relationships.

He is also the author of two books both of which are Amazon Best Sellers:

Emotions as Tools: a Self Help Guide to Controlling Your Life not Your Feelings and Beyond Anger Management: Master Your Anger as a Strategic Tool
