Allow Yourself to Feel

Sometimes it’s hard to pin down exactly the emotion that is defining our experience of the moment. Are you happy, or are you sad? Enthusiastic, or bored? Excited, or exasperated?
Our emotions can be a lot like sibling rivalries: they’re complicated and messy. But it’s important to remember that emotions are just tools that we use to help us identify our needs and desires.
When we experience an emotion, we need to understand how that emotion helps us survive in the world. And In order to use emotions like these as tools for survival, you have to: Be aware of your own emotions, experience the emotion, take a step back and a deep breath, assess the nature of the emotion, and finally, take action.
